Water Time!

We went to the legacy center a week back and wanted to take the kids swimming. Tyler was very excited and Hailey loves the water so we thought we would all have a great time!!
we got there right as they do their 10 min break so we were able to take some pictures and some video.....
the kids were way excited so we got some good stuff!
Hailey wanted to walk right in!
Tyler did too!
so fun!!
until it all came to an end and the big barrel thing came down dumping all this water. They were officially scared to death!! They did not want to go anywhere near it!! they would not take their eyes off it...it dumps like every 10 mins, so they were totally freaked out. Hence no pictures of them swimming because they had death grips on both of us and wouldnt let us put them down. David would take them one at a time around, but that didnt help...oh well...we tried. We'll have to go during the day when that thing is not on...:)
oh yeah, so what do you think about the life jackets...david is obsessed with having them on them constantly, but when we're right there and holding them why do they need them...we grew up swimming and never wore life jackets...but i guess its best, what do you think???

I've never had Jordyn in a life jacket. When I was teaching swim lessons, I found that if kids wear life jackets constantly they become dependant on them and get scared of the water without them, thus making it harder for them to swim. Then again, parents need to do what they feel is best for their family!

You guys are so adorable! Too bad about the barrel dumping water. That is scary to kids! Life jackets...not sure how they'll ever learn to swim wearing them, but whatever is comfortable for you is the important thing! Love you all. xoxox

Not to scare you or that I'm for life jackets. My kids never wore them. And I too have said stuff like, "Well we didn't do that when we were kids and we are ok." This doesn't apply to everything, but I thought about it like this one day: The ones that didn't do ok aren't here to tell you they they aren't ok. Make sense? Soooo, basically if you feel the need to do something differently than your parents to keep your kids safe or healthy. Do it!! I put a leash on Morgan. I don't care about the looks I get. I'd rather the looks than to lose her.

Very cute pictures. I'm very impressed with the things you do with your kids being as pregnant as you are. My entire pregnancy I don't want to do anything! I'm usually too tired and my back hurts the entire nine months!

Grace doesn't love the life jacket, so when we're in the shallow area I don't usually make her wear it... you just have to be more vigilant.

Sorry it didn't turn out as planned! Jordan hates that bucket dumping the water too...dang thing. We spend all our time over by the kid slides so it doesn't get us and Jordan loves it over there when we've gone. Life jackets are probably smart, but I haven't had Jordan wear one yet when we've gone. I just made sure to stay right by him! You're such a good mom to go being pregnant!

linds pics are so cool. the kids will learn to swim if you guys don't show any fear when your teaching them. make it fun for them that was the way we taught you and your brothers and sister. just hold them and they will built the confidence to do it because of their trust in you. good luck. love ya all dad
